Tesla takes over the internet again. The company is famous for its over-the-top EVs, competing against several rivals. Elon Musk has a witty nature and quite the devotion to stay in the headlines. Previously, Tesla Cybertruck trended on X when Musk disclosed that he emptied the whole magazine of a Tommy gun on it. The purpose was to test how strong its armour was against bullets. The bizarre test received mixed reviews, with some people amused at Musk’s humour and others questioning his methods. Recently, photos of Tesla cybertruck f150 wrap circulated on the internet again, taking everyone by surprise. The CyberTruck is famous for its futuristic design; however, it seemed a little different than usual in the photos. Let’s uncover the reason behind its changed appearance.
Are tesla cybertruck f150 wrap rumours true?
What’s the buzz
Several photos of Tesla’s CyberTruck disguised as an F-10 appeared online, creating buzz among the fans. They were rather confused than amused to see their ‘favourite’ alien truck resembling a Ford F-150 wrap. Is Musk copying Ford? The photos appeared on Sandy Munro’s YouTube channel. However, the original photo shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, was deleted. Munro was quite intrigued by the unique choice, a Ford F-150 disguise making the truck perfectly identical to its rival. It’s rather comical to think Tesla would go to such lengths to hide its design from the public.
Musk’s intentions
Elon Musk is rather blunt when it comes to criticizing others. He revealed his purpose in creating the CyberTruck, which is quite befitting to his nature. His biographer, Walter Isaacson, revealed that Musk wanted to make a cooler version of Ford’s F-10. The Cybertruck design resembles the submarine, ‘Wet Nellie’, that James Bon drove in Road Runners. Musk wanted to achieve that cutting-edge, modern, origami-like vehicle that seemed like it came out of a sci-fi movie. Moreover, the design aims towards electric truck innovation, which makes it stand out from other pickup trucks.
The perfect disguise
Coming back to our topic, Musk understands how X trends things. Ford has always been the go-to pickup truck company for generations. The company decided to lower the price of the F-150 Lightning pickup truck, which earned the attention of the multibillionaire. Musk started his comment by praising the truck, then ironically stating that it was expensive. The Tesla and Ford comparison continued as Ford’s owner commented on CyberTruck’s unusual design and called it a truck for Silicon Valley people. Musk intends to keep his rivals on their toes, and covering the truck with an F-10 wrap proves his competitive nature. Furthermore, Tesla’s customization for CyberTruck is a disguise to hide its new trim designs and other features.
Future perspective
Hiding the truck’s design surely stirred the internet if that’s what Musk wanted. However, does CyberTruck have the potential to dethrone Ford as the new pickup truck giant? Tesla has beaten several competitors in the long run. Surprisingly, the Tesla pickup truck managed to gain quite the hype before its release. What’s more, the truck was released in November 2023. The F-10 wrap was meant to hide its identity for future test drives after its release. The base model will be available in 2025 with a 250-mile range and rear-wheel drive.
Why is Tesla competing against Ford?
Receiving the Cybertruck updates with a twist does raise a question. Why is Tesla so adamant about competing against Ford? Here are some of the possible reasons.
1- Survival of the fittest
The EV industry works as a team to make the Earth a better place to live. However, that also makes them rivals competing for the top spot. The verdict is that the Tesla Cybertruck may still lack that ‘oomph’ factor that Ford and Rivian trucks have.
2- Affordable EVs
Tesla has always aimed to produce budget-friendly EVs with top features. However, Ford lowered its prices before the Tesla cyber truck f150 wrapped rumours. Both companies are trying to become the best companies that produce reasonably priced EVs.
3- Better features
The towing capacity is a notable feature in pickup trucks. According to several towing tests, Tesla’s CyberTruck had more towing capacity than Ford’s F-150 Lightning. The Tesla pickup truck had an 11,000-pound towing capacity similar to Rivian’s pickup trucks.
4- Driving range
Tesla’s CyberTruck may have a good towing capacity, but its driving range is lower. The truck offers a 340-mile driving range, which is insufficient for a pickup truck. The Cybertruck design may elevate its range by cutting speed drag.
5- Efficient battery packs
Tesla also takes the blame for having the smallest battery pack compared to other pickup trucks. However, Ford takes the first spot in this category with a massive 131 kWh battery pack. The extended battery size also increases its driving range. Sadly, a Ford F-150 style wrap cannot add range to Tesla’s pickup truck.
Conclusion
Tesla has been in the news for its wide range of EVs and exceptional performance. The company decided to launch its first pickup truck in November 2023. Tesla’s CyberTruck has been tangled in several controversies since it came out. On 27 July 2023, several accounts on X posted about the Tesla cybertruck f150 wrap, which confused everyone. Later, the photos were deleted. However, auto manufacturing expert Sandy Munro shared one of the photos on his YouTube channel explaining how similar the truck looked to Ford’s F-150. This bizarre information fueled the comparison between Tesla and Ford even further.
