Which Ford Mustang Mach-E Model Should You Buy in 2024?

For more than the last 50 years, the Ford Mustang formula has not changed virtually. The formula includes a big lumbering V8 engine and muscular styling. Also, it includes a simple rear-wheel-drive layout. The new Ford Mustang Mach-E is a different pony, though. It shows the first foray by Ford into the electric car market. Also, it comes in the very trendy shape of a large sedan.

In this article, we will try to give you a detailed review of the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Overview

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is an electric sedan and the first Ford to be designed. Particularly, as an electric vehicle, there is not a gas-powered prototype or even a hybrid. Approximately the same size as a Ford Escape, the Mustang Mach-E blends normal sedan proportions with some features of Mustang styling elements. Also, it is sporty enough to give credence to its Mustang badge. It accelerates quickly, handles sharply, and has enough electric range and enough interior space. It is done to make it an appealing, pleasing, and family-friendly daily driver. There are many other amazing features of this electric sedan that we have discussed below.

1- Safety and Driver-Assistance

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is available with a wide collection of driver-assistance technology. It includes Ford’s BlueCruise autonomous driving technology. The key features include:

Standard blind-spot

Rear cross-traffic alert

Standard automated emergency braking with forward-collision warning.

Available adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode

2- Range, Charging, and Battery Life

In 2023, Ford moved to new battery chemistry for some Mach-E trims. Also, it is fitted with the standard-sized, smaller pack. EPA-estimated range figures for the whole line-up go from 224-312 miles on a charge. It depends on the number of electric motors and the battery pack size. However, this is not nearly as outstanding as the longest-range Tesla prototype.

However, it is in line with range figures for crossovers from other big manufacturers. Every Mach-E comes with the capability of fast charging. Also, it includes the mobile home charging unit when you plug into a 120-volt in-house outlet. Connect the mobile unit to a 240-volt outlet, which can refill up to 80% of battery capacity overnight. Also, Ford sells a more robust home charging station that requires to be inducted by certified electricians. When connected to that device, the Ford Mustang Mach-E’s battery gains around 28mIles of range for charging after every hour. Hence. This model has an extended-range battery.

3- Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The Mustang Mach-E has amazing features. The interior floor, skateboard style, and excellent space for cargo and passengers.  Moreover, the streamlined dashboard has an elegant digital gauge cluster dominated by a vertically oriented, huge touchscreen. A pocket is underneath the floating flip-up armrest between the front passenger seat. This seat is large enough to keep a good-sized purse. Moreover, a list of optional features and slick standards include tailored ambient interior lighting. Plus, it has heated front seats, wireless charging, a heated steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof. Also, a front crunch is lined in hard plastic, which can be utilized like a cooler before being drained and rinsed.

4- Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe

The EPA rates the Ford Mustang Mach-E at up to 96 MPGe highway and 110MPGe. Though, that is for the rear-wheel drive base model. The best-performing GT Performance trim is the least efficient and has ratings of 77 MPGe and 90 MPGe city. Although, we still have not had the 2024 Mach-E on our 75 mph highway fuel economy path. It is part of our comprehensive testing regimen. Therefore, we have not assessed its real-world range.

5- EV Motor, Power, and Performance

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is available in the market with either an extended-range 91.0kWh pack or a 70.0 kWh battery on the RWD versions of the Premium and Select, a motor on every axle in AWD models of all four trims. The GT and its performance prototypes are only available with AWD. These motors integrate to generate 480hp and up to 634 lb-ft of torque. In our testing of a Mach-E GT, performance goes to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. Less powerful rear-wheel drive prototypes generate 266 or 290 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Now, let’s talk about the trims. The AWD versions of the Premium and select trims make around 266-346 hp and either 427 or 428, and either 427 or 428 lb-ft.

Price and Which one to get?

The price of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 begins at around $45,390 and goes around $65,390. The price depends on the trim and options. In our opinion, the Premium model is the Mach-E to get. This trim adds some significant luxuries compared to the less costly trim. Ford says the Premium model is suitable for 310 miles of driving range when combined with the rear-wheel drive and extended-range battery. However, we would still select the all-wheel-drive version, which knocks its calculated range down to 290 miles.

Competitor to Consider

The Ford Mustang Mach-E competes in a segment rapidly becoming filled with options. The Tesla Y model remains the hot seller. Therefore, it is considered one of the main competitors of Mustang Mach-E.
